Bear
Creek Golf ... Winding Trail
Lane is situated in the heart of the private residential
community of Hilton Head Plantation. The Coffin residence
is nestled along the 3rd fairway of the 250-member
private Bear Creek Golf Course. This member owned
course is known for a low number of annual rounds,
having no tee times, and play when you want. Winding
Trail is a private cul-e-sac with carefully manicured
yards and mature tree cover of long leaf pines.
The Coffin home is deceptive from the street. What
greets you beyond the porticio entry cannot be judged
from outside.
At the entry, a driveway with off-street parking leads
to a 2-car garage. An oyster shell tabby walk leads
to a portico entry and 2 naturally stained entry doors.
Steps at the garage lead to a cozy hobby room above
the garage that is heated and cooled.
Inside, wood floors begin at the foyer and lead through
the common areas of the home including the kitchen.
The home is built around the very popular great room
concept with cathedral ceiling, unique doublesided
gas fireplace with tile hearth, overhead paddle fan,
and Hurd thermopane window overlooking the view to
the outdoor deck. The great room opens off the kitchen
and there is a formal dining room with bay window
overlooking the side patio. Off the dining room is
a tiled sun room/Carolina room with a slider to the
outdoor deck. Note the deep tray ceiling, the floor-to-ceiling
Hurd thermopane windows and the bow window overlooking
the golf view.
The kitchen is a chef¿s delight. Top-of-the-line
KraftMaid cabinetry has lots of rollouts, interior
features, and drawer storage. The kitchen opens to
the great room, and there are lots of halogen under
counter lights, and most appliances recently replaced.
Off the kitchen is a breakfast room with a bay window
and slider to an outdoor tabby patio and garden area
ideal for outdoor cooking and entertaining. There
is a convenient utility room with deep sink, washer,
dryer and lots of shelving.
The bedroom configuration is unique. The owner presently
has the home set up as a 2-bedroom home with 2 separate
den/conversational areas. The master bedroom is oversized
with a huge walk-in closet with lots of double rod
and shelving. There is a double vanity and a large
walk-in shower, deep soaking tub, and large picture
window overlooking an enclosed garden. Off the master
bedroom is a vaulted ceiling den area ideal for a
sitting area, studio, or other conversational area.
Note the leaded glass windows, overhead paddle fan
set in a vaulted ceiling, and the heavy Hurd windows
to the outdoor deck. Connecting the foyer and the
master bedroom with a pocket door is a cozy den with
a solid masonry fireplace (wood or gas), vaulted ceiling,
closet, and easy access to the deck.
The guest bedroom is conveniently located off the
foyer and is generous in size with a bow window, a
second large walk-in closet, and easy access to the
guest 2nd bath.
To the rear of the home, there is a terraced wooden
deck that has been treated with an all-weather stain.
Gentle steps down lead to a lily pond with a fountain
and flagstone edging. Note in the rear and side yards
that all of the treated wood terracing with steps
and handrails and garden area are ideally suited for
the tremendous variety of plants.
It would be difficult to quantify the amount of money
that the owner has spent in keeping this house up
to date in renovations. In addition to the totally
updated kitchen, the HVAC system has been replaced
(2006), the house has 3M thermal sun shade window
coverings, wood floors, new roof, satellite dish,
ADT fire, burglar and emergency alarm system (presently
disconnected), masonry fireplace, wood floors, all
windows and doors in the home have been replaced,
water softener, water purification system, hot water
boost system in kitchen, new lighting, new asphalt
driveway (2007), and bonus room with separate HVAC.
