SOUND WITH LAGOON VIEW ...
Hickory Forest is one of the premier neighborhoods in the
private residential community of Hilton Head Plantation. Located
along the blue waters of Port Royal Sound, you can enjoy the
convenience of access to the shoreline across a homeowners'
association owned park that is a short walk away. This area
is known for clamming, picking oysters and enjoying the wonders
of nature along this most interesting part of the Hilton Head
Island coastline.
The
homesite for the Cauller residence is a large corner lot overlooking
one of the prettier lagoons in Hilton Head Plantation. Not
only do you enjoy wonderful freshwater lagoon views, but the
beach park and nature walk along the shoreline of Port Royal
Sound are just a couple of blocks away.
At
the entry, note the cul-de-sac location and the large homesite.
A concrete driveway gives easy access to a large detached
2-car garage and generous off-street parking. The grounds
have been carefully landscaped with mature plantings, and
there is an automatic sprinkler system that nurtures all of
the low maintenance landscaping.
The
covered portico leads to the custom leaded and beveled glass
entry door. Also take note of the attractive covered breezeway
connecting the detached garage to the home. A brick walk leads
to the entry with sidelights and transom windows above. Step
inside and the foyer soars 2 stories above providing lots
of natural daylight for this area. There are 2 accent columns
that define the foyer and open to a formal living room that
centers on a wood burning fireplace with traditional mantle
and lots of built-in bookcases and base cabinetry. To your
left is a formal dining room that is generous in size with
a tremendous amount of wall space for furniture placement.
Triple windows topped with transoms and plantation shutters
brighten the formal dining room, and the wood floors are ideal
for your specimen rugs. Nearby is a full bath/powder room
with pedestal sink and a stall shower. There is also convenient
access to the utility room with Maytag Neptune washer and
dryer, deep sink and built-in ironing board.
From
the living room, a great room opens through triple arched
and columned openings. Note the interesting custom wood ceiling
treatment, the granite hearth, traditional mantle and built-in
cabinetry ideal for your entertainment system. This room has
a wonderful custom wood treatment, hardwood floors, and doors
that open to the outdoor deck. Adjacent to the great room
is a modern kitchen with a free-form center island with a
built-in solid surface electric range. There is a full complement
of raised panel wood cabinetry, all topped in Corian, and
a Frigidaire double door refrigerator with thru-the-door water
and ice, Whirlpool built-in self-cleaning oven and microwave,
and a GE stainless dishwasher. Note the interesting tile backsplash,
plantation shutters and the large 24” tile that runs throughout
the kitchen and into the Carolina room.
The
kitchen opens to a beautiful Carolina room that the present
owner is using for casual dining. This flexible room has a
multitude of uses and enjoys the warmth of a built-in gas
fireplace. A centerpiece of this room is a wonderful custom
wine cellar that is temperature controlled and is certainly
the envy of anyone who enjoys fine wine. At the end of the
room is a cozy bay area with triple windows topped with transoms.
The
bedroom configuration is ideal. There is a large master suite
with wood floors, his and her closets, and a bright and cheerful
master bath with double bowl vanity, deep whirlpool tub, stall
shower and private European style water closet. Nearby is
a 2-bedroom guest suite with 2 very large guest bedrooms sharing
a common bath with double bowl sink and tub/shower.
Stairs
from the ground floor lead to an upstairs bonus/4 th bedroom/office/study
that has been pre-plumbed for the later addition of another
bath.
The
present owners have upgraded and added to this fine residence
and notable features include 2 fireplaces, hardwood and 24”
tile floors, granite and Corian kitchen, wonderful wine cellar,
lagoon view and easy walk to Port Royal Sound.
