VIEW ... The
Headlands Subdivision is centrally located in the private
residential community of Hilton Head Plantation. This choice
homesite is along the 7 th fairway of the 250-member private
Bear Creek Golf Club and enjoys eastern exposure sunrises.
This “Make no tee time, play when you want to” club is one
of the nicest golf experiences on the island. The course was
designed by Rees Jones and is a wonderful layout.
The
Landers put substantial energy in planning their future retirement
home. They chose long-time island builder, Jim Buck, to execute
the plans. Nothing but the best of materials was used, and
the open floor plan was ahead of its time.
At
the entry, a concrete driveway offers generous off-street
parking and easy access to the oversized 2-car garage. A brick
edged tabby walkway leads through a naturally landscaped yard
to a covered entrance and the stained 6-panel entry door with
sidelights.
Step
inside the foyer and earth tone ceramic tile paves the floor.
Off to the right is a small formal living room/music room
with a bay window. This room is ideal for a baby grand piano.
Off to the left and with access through a pocket door from
to the kitchen is a formal dining room with another bay window
and generous wall space for furniture placement.
The
home is certainly up-to-date with a great room plan. The island
kitchen has a generous amount of J. Wood raised panel naturally
stained oak cabinetry, all topped in an earth tone Corian.
There is a full complement of appliances including JennAir
double ovens, a Thermador gas range, KitchenAid dishwasher
and Subzero refrigerator with matching cabinet panels. The
kitchen opens to both a breakfast room and the great room,
and there is barstool seating available as well as a built-in
desk. The informal dining room is on the view side of the
home, and there are lots of windows that wash the room in
natural light. Overhead is a multi-faceted raised ceiling
with heavy beam. The kitchen also has a tray ceiling with
lots of recessed lighting and hardwood floors run throughout
both rooms.
Opening
off the kitchen is the great room with a high vaulted ceiling
accented by heavy, naturally stained wood beams. The room
centers on a masonry brick fireplace with gas insert and flush
hearth. Base cabinetry and bookcases flank either side of
the fireplace, and there is lots of built-in wiring for television
and entertainment systems. The built-in speaker system has
separate volume controls. Overhead is a Casablanca paddle
fan and this room is also washed in natural light from two
large skylights.
Opening
off the great room is a screened porch/Carolina room with
ceramic tile floor, tray ceiling, overhead paddle fan and
insulated windows to accommodate the air conditioned environment.
Doors from both the breakfast room, great room and screened
porch open to an outdoor aggregate patio, bench seating and
large backyard that is naturally landscaped with mature azaleas,
palmetto palms and a generous setback from the golf course.
The
split bedroom floor plan is ideal. The master bedroom is generous
in size and has a bay alcove for furniture placement. There
are two large walk-in closets with rod and double shelving.
The large master bath features a deep Kohler soaking tub,
his and her vanities finished with cherry raised panel cabinetry,
separate stall shower, linen closet and a European style water
closet.
At
the opposite end of the house, a hallway leads to the guest
bedroom wing. There are two generous sized guest bedrooms
with one having a deep walk-in closet and bay window space
that is ideal for a desk. The guest bedroom wing has a full
bath as well as a half bath powder room.
There
is a large utility room with Whirlpool washer, dryer, deep
sink, hanging closet and large folding table and easy access
to the large 2-car garage with separate storage room.
Notable
features of this well built home include triple zone HVAC
system with 2 water source heat pumps, 2-zone hot water system,
Peachtree Ariel clad windows and Pella doors, handicap accessible
doorways, and speaker surround wiring.
